Bathery Jain Temple

Distance : 500m

This historical site is one of the holiest sites for Jainism in India. It also acted as an administrative hub and an ammunition base for Tipu Sultan. He set up his battery at this site. This is how Sulthan Bathery got its name.

Built in the 13th century you are made aware of the traditional architecture and spiritual sanctity as soon as you enter the temple. It is a must visit for anyone coming to Wayanad

Heritage Museum

One of the best Heritage Museums in Kerala. It houses artefacts and belongings of the various tribes of the land.

Phantom Rock

Distance : 12 km

The human shaped rock called Phantom Rock is a magnum opus of the mother nature. This rare work of art from nature is at Cheengery.

Edakkal Caves

Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary

Distance : 14 km

This is a protected and cherished sanctuary that conserves wildlife in its natural habitat. It was established in 1973 and has a large population of elephants, tigers, birds, butterflies and insects. The sanctuary is shielded with dense trees native to rainforests.

You can see the majesty of wild animals like elephants, tigers, panthers, jungle cats, peacocks, etc. at close quarters. The ride inside the forest is an experience of a lifetime.

Karlad lake is located in Thariode, which is around 16km away from Kalpetta. This is the second largest freshwater lake in the state, which is quite popular among nature enthusiasts for its peaceful environs. En Uru Tribal Village

Kerala’s first tribal heritage village is located on the hillock slope at Pookode. Here you experience tribal culture and lifestyle with a tribal market, amphitheatre, tribal huts, heritage pathway etc

Chain Tree

Distance : 40 km

The speciality of the largest ficus tree in Wayanad is that it is bound by a prominent chain. This serves as a source of a dramatic local myth. Karinthandan- an Adivasi youth guided a British engineer to the perilous mountain region of Wayanad. But to take full credit for the discovery, it seems that the engineer murdered Karinthandan. After his death, his soul haunted the subsequent visitors to Wayanad. It seems that a priest chained the bothersome spirit into this tree.

Lakkidi

Distance : 40 km

Lakkidi is a beau ful hill town that is blessed with panoramic locations and viewpoints, and is popularly known as ‘the gateway of Wayanad’. Lakkidi is situated at the crest of the snaky Thamarassery Ghat Pass. Lakkidi viewpoint offers an awesome view of the surrounding cliffs and valleys.

Pazhassi Tomb

Distance : 41 km

Veera Pazhassi Raja, who was famously known as the lion of Kerala, was a key player in the Indian independence revolution against the British. Pazhassi Raja, the heir of the Kottayam royal family, was one amognst the pioneers in revolt against the east India company. He carried out guerrilla-type warfare attacks against the British and carried out a long tenure of revolution against the British.

Kuruva Dweep

Distance : 41 km

These are a cluster of islets in the middle of Kabini river in Wayanad. They have diverse flora and fauna that you can witness while you sit in a traditional bamboo raft. They are a known haven for migratory birds and a great spot for bird watchers.

Soochipara Waterfalls

Banasura Sagar Dam

The Banasura Sagar Dam is located 21 km from Kalpetta, in the western ghats, which is the largest earthen dam in India and the second largest in Asia. It is an ideal starting point for hikes into the surrounding scenic mountains and an import- ant tourist attraction. Banasura Sagar Dam is at the foot of the Banasura hills.

900 Kandi

Distance : 44km

The 100-feet long 900 Kandi Skywalk is South India’s first ever glass bridge built really high on a hilltop to provide visitors with breathtaking 360 degree views of the entire valley below! While the visuals of blue and green it offers are absolutely stunning, the bridge is no less of an attraction in itself with its unique design and towering structure that gives guests a gratifying high when they walk it!

Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary

Distance : 55 km

This sanctuary has a wide variety of animals. But visitors are restricted to the outer tourists.

Thirunelly Temple

Distance : 60km

It is one of the most ancient temples in Kerala. It is well believed that here the prathishta of lord Vishnu was performed by lord Brahma. Thirunelly temple draws pilgrims from all over, primarily for ancestral rites. The rituals are performed on the banks of the stream papanashini, which flows down mount Brahma Giri. It is believed that this stream has the divine power to dissolve the sins of all mortals. Another major attraction of the temple is the holy rock where people pray for their forefathers.

Pakshipathalam

Distance : 60km

Accessible only by foot. Rare species of birds, animals, and distnctve species of plants can be seen here. Special permission has to be obtained at the forest department camp at Pakshipathalam.
